Study, Work, and Live in Finland

According to the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report, Finland is recognized as one of the most innovative countries in higher education and training programs. Hence, learning more about this country and studying there is of interest to many.

Each year, approximately 31,000 international students choose Finland for their education, where over 400 programs are offered in English. While most are familiar with Helsinki's cosmopolitan environment, cities like Tampere, Espoo, Kuopio, and Oulu also provide numerous opportunities for students. Finland is home to 14 traditional universities, and one of their main advantages is the automatic admission of bachelor’s graduates into master's programs without reapplication. This is a significant opportunity! The University of Oulu, LUT University, and LAB Universities of Applied Sciences offer many programs and opportunities for students.

Living expenses vary depending on the region. If you are a citizen of the European Union or the European Economic Area, there are no tuition fees in public universities. However, for non-European students, tuition fees range from €5,000 to €18,000 annually, depending on the program. Finland is known for its cold and snowy winters. Yet, its residents are friendly and open-hearted, making cultural adaptation easier.

Work opportunities are available in Finland. During studies, you can work if the job is related to your field or does not exceed 25 hours per week. During holidays, there are no restrictions on working hours. Knowing Finnish or Swedish increases job prospects. English-speaking jobs are available but might be limited. After graduation, you can obtain a one-year residence permit to search for a job. Once you find employment, it is possible to convert your residence permit into a work visa.
