Brighton College is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18 in Brighton, England. The school has three sites: Brighton College (the senior school, ages 11 to 18); Brighton College Preparatory School (children aged 8 to 13, located next to the senior school); and the Pre-Prep School (children aged 3 to 8).
Brighton College was named England’s Independent School 2019 of the Year by The Sunday Times. In 2018 it was ranked 5th in the country for average A-level results, with 99% of grades being A*-B.
In 2011, Brighton College opened its first international campus in Abu Dhabi. Brighton College International Schools (BCIS) has subsequently opened campuses in Al Ain, Bangkok and Dubai.
If you were to ask current parents why they chose Brighton College for their son or daughter, they would tell you the children here are cheerful, balanced, at ease with themselves and each other - yet excited and enthused by the challenges before them. They might add that the College succeeds in combining academic excellence with a wealth of co-curricular opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each child.
The College believes passionately in the importance of the individual. Every child at Brighton College is valued for his or her own sake, and is encouraged to develop his or her talents to the full in a community where there are no stereotypes and where every achievement, however small, is noticed.
Sixth Form
The Sixth Form should be the best two years of your school life. There is freedom to pursue subjects that really excite you, you have more informal and rewarding relationships with teachers, and you make new friends - all whilst being guided towards the very best university outcomes for you (if that's what you would like to do).
Between 50 and 60 pupils join their Sixth Form every year, so there will be many in the same situation as you. Induction activities and social events ensure that everyone settles in quickly, and a mentor and your dedicated tutor will be on hand to help and advice every step of the way.
Boarding
Boarding has never been so popular, and they are delighted that the number of boarders has trebled in ten years. For full and weekly boarders, Brighton College is a home away from home.
All of their boarders benefit from state-of-the art facilities, warm relationships with those in their house "families", a rich program of clubs and activities, and all that the College has to offer.
Their weekly boarding experience means that pupils can enjoy four nights of school life, and three weekend nights at home with their parents. Pupils have the option of joining in with weekend activities if they wish.
Aim
The College aims to help all pupils reach the University of their Choice. Around 20% of their pupils are offered places at Oxford or Cambridge every year, with over 650 offers received from Russell Group universities in 2018.
Overseas admissions
Any applicant who is studying outside of the UK, regardless of nationality, is considered an 'overseas applicant'.
They welcome overseas pupils from all over the world, and have a truly international pupil community. The main points of entry are Year 9 (13+) and 12 (16+).
Fees
For the 2018/19 academic year the fees were £23,160 for day pupils. Boarding ranged from £33,390 - £37,470 pa. The school offers a number of scholarships and bursaries, offered on the basis of merit and need
