York St John University

York St John University is a public university located on a large urban campus in York, England. It achieved university status in 2006.

It is one of several higher education institutions which have religious foundations.

In 2018/19, there were 6,620 students, reading a wide variety of subjects, in nine Schools: Art, Design & Computer Science; Education; Health Sciences; Humanities, Religion & Philosophy; Languages & Linguistics; Performance and Media Production; Psychological and Social Sciences; Sport; and York Business School.

The university campus is spread over an area of 11 acres. It avails accommodation to the students. The campus features studio apartments and shared flats or houses. The hostels have dining space and cafeterias. The campus also provides internet access free of charge throughout the property. Several cafes and restaurants are nearby the campus. The campus is also close to stationery shops, departmental stores and chemist shops for students' convenience. Public conveyance is easily available from the campus. In 2004, the university opened a learning center within the premises. The center provides all kinds of resources like books, journals, DVDs and media equipment. The students were allowed to access any type of resource provided. The De Grey court of the campus was designed and built by the famous architect, Charles Thompson. The campus is surrounded by greenery. It provides a suitable learning environment for the students.

Faculties

Around 100 degree course options are available to students at foundation and undergraduate level, including mathematics, data science, biology, biochemistry, nutrition, biomedical science, computer science, film and television production, media production, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, literature, linguistics, psychology, counseling, business management, marketing, tourism, history, music, music production, art, design, geography, theatre, drama, dance, sport related programs, theology and primary education.

At postgraduate and post-experience level, York Business School offers a suite of Masters Programs including a new MBA program. Other subject areas offered at postgraduate level include theology, education, theatre, fine art, film production, music composition, counseling, health, linguistics and TESOL.
