Get to know TUS

With over 14,000 students on six campuses in Ireland’s Midwest and Midlands, TUS is one of Ireland’s newest and most unique Technological Universities. Through applied learning and fresh thinking, our focus is on meeting the evolving needs of society and industry, within our region and beyond.

TUS – shared values and proactive thinking

At TUS we have a clear focus on meeting the evolving needs of society and industry through applied learning and innovative thinking.  By putting the individual needs of our students front-and-centre, we prioritise accessibility and opportunity for all. When we combine this student-first philosophy with next-generation thinking, we can help drive our region forward through education, research, and commercial collaboration.

Our Story

TUS is a multi-campus university spread across six campuses throughout Ireland’s Midwest and Midlands region. With principal campuses at Limerick and Athlone, we benefit from an already strong and vibrant history of education and learning in the wider region, and will continue to play our part in sustaining and enhancing this identity for generations to come.

By providing a healthy supply of high-quality graduates and an additional focal point for growth and innovation, we can help regional development take a big step forward. And for our nation, a technological university in the heart of Ireland adds a new dimension to education in our country, demonstrating a commitment to shared values like inclusivity, accessibility, and supportiveness.

Our continuous focus on partnership, innovation and staying agile shows we understand the importance of working with key stakeholders across industry and society. And with more than 14,000 students enrolling in hundreds of courses every year across four counties, our story has only just begun.

Locations

Limerick City

On the banks of the River Shannon, Limerick is Ireland’s third largest city and home to almost 25,000 third level students, giving the place an energetic and friendly feel. Moylish, one of our principal campuses, is just outside the city and is where more than 6,000 students are enrolled. Limerick is a fun, inclusive, and great place to study in, with a mix of sport, culture, and history that is hard to match.
Our Clare Street and George’s Quay campuses are home to Limerick School of Art & Design (LSAD), one of the longest-established centres of art and design education in Ireland. While just outside the city, Coonagh is the Mid West’s first engineering-focused higher education campus, and offers state-of-the-art learning and research facilities.

Athlone

Also on the River Shannon, Athlone is a big town located in the heart of Ireland, and spans two counties and two provinces. Here you’ll find our other principal campus in what is a fun and friendly college town. We have over 200+ industry-focused courses available on a full-time, part-time, blended, and online basis which range from higher certificate right through to PhD.
With a population of 25,000, the town has everything you’d expect to find in a larger city. From large shopping centres, a leisure centre with a swimming pool and gymnasium, to sports facilities, skate park, bowling alley and cinema complex as well as theatres and an art gallery, you’ll be spoilt for things to do.

Thurles

Thurles is a vibrant town in Ireland’s Midwest and is a, central, highly connected location in which to live and study. Our Thurles campus incorporates a 200-seater conference centre, lecture theatres, computer suites, science laboratories and specialist games development labs. With world-class strength and conditioning facilities in place at our ‘SportsLab’, the campus has built a reputation as a sporting and performance centre of excellence. The town itself also has a rich cultural and sporting pedigree, and is synonymous with the GAA and Semple Stadium, the spiritual home of hurling, which is also just a stone’s throw from our Thurles Campus.

Clonmel

A large town in South Tipperary, Clonmel has plenty of cafés, restaurants and lively pubs, and offers so much to do for the student population. Known as our Digital Campus, Clonmel showcases the technical focus and accessibility that TUS stands for. It provides a relaxed, friendly, yet creative learning space for students and is the centre for our popular and innovative degrees in Game Art & Design, Digital Animation Production, and Creative Media and Design. Work is also set to begin on the Clonmel Sports Hub which will include a 400-metre IAAF standard athletics track, skatepark, walkways and cycleways. South Tipperary is also famous for hiking and walking and is an ideal base for students who love the peace and serenity of the great outdoors.

Ennis

Ennis is one of the largest urban centres in Ireland’s Midwest and is a town steeped in history, culture, and education. Our Ennis Campus is located on Bindon Street in the heart of town. Here, you can study Social Care Work degrees at Level 8 and Level 7 available through the CAO. The newly refurbished campus building, with all its historic charm, now has brand new modern facilities. Our small class sizes and friendly atmosphere ensures students can gain the most from their TU experience in Clare, while benefitting from essential spaces for lectures, study and recreation.

Learn, work, and play

There’s a whole lot happening at TUS and you’ll find life here fun, welcoming, and inclusive.

We’ve taken the time to weave a very distinct culture into every corner of our six campuses. From lecture halls to coffee docks and from canteens to classrooms, the warmth you feel when you walk in is real.

Our Students Union is the centre of student life and alongside our extensive support services, it reflects a helpful and inclusive atmosphere that’s at the heart of all we do.
