SOCIAL PROGRAMME AND STUDENT ACTIVITIES

LEARN ENGLISH WHILE HAVING FUN

We want you to enjoy your experience with us and we think that it is important to immerse yourself outside the classroom. We organise weekly social activities for you to meet new people, have fun and practice your English! Our social programme runs all year round and consists of afternoon, evening and weekend activities.

Our social programme is designed to allow you to take advantage of Scotland’s fantastic range of cultural activities, whilst making friends and improving your English at the same time. Check out the school notice board each week for the up to date programme.  

Most of the activities are free of charge. There are some great destinations activities which require a small fee such as Gladstone’s Land, Rosslyn Chapel, Jupiter Artland, Whisky Tasting, Ceilidh Club with a cost between £5 and £10. 

Please also note that all entrances and tickets are included for our Erasmus+ programmes.

High Quality English Courses in Edinburgh

GENERAL ENGLISH COURSES

The Half Day General English course enables you to brush up your English knowledge whilst having the afternoon free for other activities, perhaps to explore Edinburgh’s history, architecture, culture or shops. You learn in small groups and benefit from 15 hours per week.

The course aims to give you confidence in communicating in an English speaking environment. The course is taught in weekly modules focusing on speaking and listening covering essential grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and common English phrases. General English is designed for students who wish to improve their ability to communicate in English while experiencing the vibrancy and excitement of Edinburgh. 

  • Hours per week 15 hours
  • Maximum class size 10 students
  • Start date Any Monday
  • Timetable 9.00 am-12.15 pm – Monday to Friday (15 minutes coffee break at 10.30 am)
  • Course length Flexible/minimum 1 week
  • Levels From A1 CEFR (Beginner) to C1 CEFR (Advanced)
  • Nationality Mix Multinational (fluctuates with seasons)
  • Minimum Age 18+

ACADEMIC ENGLISH COURSES

We have a strong reputation for preparing students to sit academic English exams. You will benefit from the expertise of our experienced teachers who have an excellent track record of preparing students to succeed in a range of exams including IELTS, TOEIC, B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE) and BULATS. We recommend this programme for all students who want to achieve the best results in their English exam.  Each course will consist of General English group training in the morning from 09:30 to 12:45, followed by a specific Exam Preparation course in the afternoon from 13:45 to 15:15.

  • Hours per week 22.5 hours
  • Maximum class size 10 students
  • Start date Any Monday
  • Timetable Monday to Friday, 9.30am-12.45pm (15 minutes coffee break at 11 am) and 13.45 – 15.15
  • Course length Flexible/minimum 1 week
  • Afternoon options available: IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE Exam Preparation
  • Levels From A2 (Pre-Intermediate) to C1 CEFR (Advanced)
  • Nationality Mix Multinational (fluctuates with seasons)
  • Minimum Age 18+

BUSINESS ENGLISH

The Professional Business English Mini-Group Course is comprised of small groups, allowing our students to benefit from the highest level of Business English teaching and maximum individual attention. This course gives you the skills to communicate effectively through using English in a working environment and to improve your overall confidence when conducting business in English. The course also provides a great opportunity to network with fellow Business English students. Each week the Business English course is designed around the group’s needs and requests and will focus on specific problem areas. The trainer will focus on language errors with controlled practice and exercises.

  • Start date Any Monday
  • Timetable 9.30am-12.45pm – Monday to Friday (15 minutes coffee break at 11 am)
  • Course length Flexible/minimum 1 week
