Admiral Farragut Academy is a private, college-prep, coeducational, boarding and day school that serves students in Kindergarten – 12th grade. The school has a beautiful 40-acre campus with a private waterfront and is located in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida.

Choosing a Prep School Education

Building the Foundation for Learning

Starting in Kindergarten, we introduce our youngest students to formal academic instruction in an environment that encourages a love of learning. We keep our Lower School classrooms small with a maximum of an 18:1 student-teacher ratio, allowing each student to get the individualized attention needed during their formative years.

The Lower School Experience: K-7th Grade

Throughout the entire Lower School experience, teachers provide experiential learning opportunities and collaborate with other grade level teachers within their subject area to ensure the curriculum is foundational, engaging, and unique.

The Upper School Experience: 8th-12th Grade

The Upper School is known for its elite and well-rounded academics including options in Honors, Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and the AP Capstone Program, its experimental learning through its signature programs including STEM, Marine Science, Sailing, Scuba, and Aviation, and its leadership development through its structure, discipline, and community.

The Boarding School Experience

Worldwide, Farragut is known for its Boarding Program which welcomes students from an average of 27 countries and 14 U.S. states to our Florida campus each year. We also offer 5-day boarding option (Sunday-Friday) for families living in the Tampa Bay or further surrounding areas. Boarding schools are the better life preparation path from high school, college, career, and beyond because of the skill sets learned including self-discipline, independence, and time management.

Competitive Athletic Program

Students who are involved in athletics learn to manage their time, stay active, and create bonds far beyond the classroom. At Farragut, we believe in producing well-rounded individuals and encourage that every student participates in at least one sport per year.

Parents, your days of driving to multiple schools for your children in different divisions are over! As a school with one campus for all grades, students benefit from utilizing different classrooms and facilities, as well as the opportunity to engage with favorite teachers or mentors throughout their entire experience. Connecting students from both divisions is also the beginning of building wonderful peer-to-peer, role-model relationships.

Our Lower School visits the Upper School during circuit building in engineering class. During this collaboration, the older students reinforce their learnings through demonstration but also build connections with our younger students.
