Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is the home of foreign language education in Korea and teaches 45 languages ​​from Asia, the Middle East and other major regions of the world. Entry Requirements

Students must have completed at least one semester at universities in their home country by the time they enter this program. In order to be admitted, students must provide their GPA of more than 2.5 out of 4.0 or grades.

Korean / English Proficiency Requirements

Language proficiency requirements have been established to ensure that all students enrolled in the HUFS undergraduate program can adequately participate in and enjoy the learning activities, which are primarily conducted in Korean and English.

Korean

Students whose first language is not Korean and wishing to attend courses taught in Korean must provide proof of Korean language proficiency from at least one of the following documents:

  • TOPIK (Korean Proficiency Test) - Level 3 or higher or KLAT-150 or higher (B2)
  • Level 3 or higher certificate from the HUFS Center for Korean Language and Culture
  • official transcript certifying that you have earned at least 15 total credits from Korean related courses.

English language

Students whose first language is not English and wish to submit their coursework in English must provide proof of English language proficiency from at least one of the following documents:

  • IELTS at least 6.0
  • TOEFL / TOEFL ITP-550 or higher, Computer 213 or higher, Internet 80 or higher
  • TOEIC-750 or higher

A letter from a university professor who is familiar with both the expected standards of an English-language university program and the student's ability to perform in an English-speaking academic environment.
Students whose native language is Korean or English are not required to provide proof of language proficiency, but only if they plan to take courses taught in their native language.

Global Exchange Scholarship Funded by Hanguk University of Foreign Studies

Hankook University of Foreign Studies offers scholarships for up to five academically distinguished exchange students from our international partner institutions. Each scholarship is worth 500,000 won (one-time payment) per semester.
