Vytautas Magnus University

Vytautas Magnus University is a comprehensive institution of higher education devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, researching, arts and innovation. Our aim is to foster critical thinking, imaginative response as well as the desire and capacity for lifelong learning of our students who will have an impact on the impact on the world locally and globally.

History. 1922 University of Lithuania established in Kaunas, 1930 University of Lithuania is granted the name of Vytautas Magnus, 1950 VMU closed due to the historical reasons, Re-established with the joint effort of scholars from Lithuania and its Diaspora,  2019 merged with Lithuanian University of Education Sciences (now-VMU Education Academy) and Aleksandras Stulginskis University (now-VMU Agriculture Academy).

Modern lecture  rooms, computer classes and labs, accessibility friendly studying environment: university spaces, lecture rooms, 5 libraries (with spaces for individual and group studies) and dormitories adapted for use by people of different needs, special leisure rooms available for people with special needs.

Academia Cum Laude. An Individual study programme for motivated and talented students, enabling them to work with a tutor (a professional in a specific field, a recognized international scholar, researcher or a recognized artist).

Globally oriented university.  Becoming the leading Baltic university in terms of internationalization in 2022 (QS rankings). 10% of foreign students,  coming from over 60 countries. 36 % BA and MA programmes taught in English. 30 languages available to study. Over 470 partner universities from over 60 countries. Over 500 courses in English. Over 11.000 students. Over 80% of teaching staff hold a scientific degree.

Baltic summer university. Baltic summer University offers a unique summer experience at VMU that combines a collection of summer programmes delivered by experts of their field as well as a variety of cultural and social events for students to enjoy their acquaintance with Lithuania. Each year, it offers a variety of courses  from Lithuania Language and Culture Summer Course to courses in the fields of Natural sciences and Creativity, Culture and Communication.

World  Lithuanian University. The World Lithuanian University is a platform designed for the Lithuanian diaspora. It is a space for igniting  the practical imagination and intellectual capacity of Lithuanian around the world, stimulating their thinking and fostering their Lithuanian identity.

The world Lithuanian University is to bring together the active intellectual leaders of the Lithuanian diaspora and promote the sense of community and common cause among them.
