Sopron University

The legal predecessors of University of Sopron have a long history with the oldest one dating back to 1735. Located beside the Austrian border, in the “Most Loyal City” of Hungary, it provides excellent education at four faculties specializing in forestry, wood technology, pedagogy and economics. 

Their academic offer includes programs in three languages: Hungarian, English and German. Due to low student-to-teacher ratios, their students have the advantage of personalized approach to learning. The university provides all first-year students placement in one of its comfortable dormitories.

The campus is located in a nature conservation area, the Botanical Garden, which also serves instructional purposes with its collection of living plants.

They conduct their programs according to the European Qualifications Framework of the Bologna Process; all programs have been accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee.

Sopron plays a special role within the region Western Transdanubia, one of the most pleasant, fastest developing regions of the country. It is a real privilege to work, study, or live in Sopron. For Sopron graduates, the years spent here are usually the highlight of their lives.

University of Sopron offers programs within the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program at three faculties: the Charles Simonyi Faculty of Engineering, Wood Sciences and Applied Arts, the Faculty of Forestry and the Alexandre Lamfalussy Faculty of Economics.
