Founded in 1899 by sociologist Edmond Demolene, Ecole des Roches is one of the oldest boarding schools in France and has raised generations of renowned students. Today, Ecole des Roches is an exclusive international blended educational institution that provides quality education to over 400 students from around the world. The school is located on a 60 hectare campus, in the small town of Verneuil-sur-Avre, in the heart of the beautiful and calm countryside of the French province of Normandy, an hour and a half from Paris.
Ecole des Roches is the only school in France to offer full immersion learning for children aged 12 to 18, regardless of their level of French and length of schooling. Since 2014, the school has been offering the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) program for high school students.
Thus, today, at Ecole des Roches, children are trained in the following programs:
1. College (12-16 years old)
2. Lyceum (16-18 years old)
3. FLE (French as a foreign language) - from 2 weeks to the academic year
4. IB Diploma (16-18 years old)
5. Summer and winter language camp (8-18 years old)
College and Lyceum
Everyday life at the College is to prepare students for the challenges that await them at the Lyceum. They help them discover their talents, acquire new skills, and take advantage of the opportunities presented.
Their varied academic program includes mock exams once per trimester (in 3rd grade) to familiarize students with the exam conditions and help them adapt to the National Diploma of Upper Secondary Education requirements.
They strive to identify areas in which students may have problems. The transition to the second grade of the Lyceum is easier thanks to this intensive training.
At the Lyceum, the main goal, of course, is to prepare students for undergraduate studies and get good results. The aim is to encourage them to continue their studies at university or high school by informing them of the highest academic requirements.
French as a Foreign Language (FLE)
Roche accepts children between the ages of 12 and 18 for the French as a Foreign Language (FLE) program, regardless of their level of French and their chosen duration of schooling (2 weeks to the academic year). Through total immersion in the French language and French culture, FLE students make great progress in both writing and speaking. The intensive program allows students to live rich and unforgettable experiences in a friendly and warm atmosphere:
Every year, at the end of the academic year, about 30% of FLE students stay in school to continue their studies to prepare for a French or International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) with a high success rate.
International Baccalaureate (IBDP)
The International Baccalaureate Diploma program is taught to a high standard by highly qualified instructors. Pupils should make the choice of this program depending on their future ambitions and their educational situation.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma program is characterized by:
The IB Diploma gives direct access to the most prestigious universities around the world and is similar in depth and scope to the Anglo-Saxon Level A, French Bachelor's and Continuing Education programs in the United States. Since 1969, universities in over 130 countries have accepted the IB diploma. IB Diploma results are automatically sent to the student's chosen university. An IB Diploma graduate is highly regarded.

Boarding school
The main campus includes 7 boarding houses, which are divided into girls and boys according to their age and class. These boarding houses are modeled after traditional English private schools and are a safe place where children learn to live in society.
Students aged 12 to 18 come from different parts of the world, and they are offered different forms of study:
- Boarding 5 days: the student returns home on the weekend
- Boarding 6 days: the student returns home on 1 weekend out of 2
- Boarding 7 days: the student stays at school all weekend
Students must do their homework every night and every weekend under adult supervision at the boarding house where they live. This is the time to complete the tasks and review the material covered. From time to time, teachers come to help students with assignments and provide support.
