National Aerospace University named after N. E. Zhukovsky "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" is one of the leading educational institutions of the state education system of the USSR, now Ukraine, which produces specialists in the field of development and production of aviation and space technology. It was founded in 1930 by separating the aviation specialty of the Mechanical Faculty from the KhPI. It is located in Kharkiv, near the village of Zhukovsky. The university teaches general designers and heads of the largest aerospace enterprises: S. A. Bychkov, V. A. Boguslaev, I. V. Dranovsky, S. N. Konyukhov, A. K. Myalitsa. Among the teachers of the university there is 1 laureate of the Lenin Prize of the USSR, 3 laureates of the State Prize of the USSR, 25 laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine, 11 laureates of the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Also taught by O. K. Antonov, Ya. E. Eisenberg, F. M. Muravchenko.
The university occupies a separate territory of the city in a forested area of about 25 hectares, where there are 8 academic buildings, 2 research institutes, scientific laboratories, a library with a fund of 920,000 volumes, a campus, a sports complex, a dispensary, canteens.
The University is a co-executor of the International Space Program "Alpha", as well as scientific projects with companies from the United States, Japan, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, and China.
