The International Student Education (ISE) offers programs of various lengths and specialties.

We offer a rich variety of courses and extracurricular opportunities alongside Canadian peers. English Language Learner (ELL) classes and additional supports are available. Academic success is carefully monitored and supported by dedicated International School Advisors. Come for a semester, come for a year, or stay to graduate!
The Academic Year in British Columbia is 10 months (September to June). International Students are fully integrated into Canadian classrooms and complete a full academic program at their grade level with courses to improve their English language abilities. Over 10 months, students gain a full experience of Canadian culture, Vancouver Island lifestyle, and are provided continual social, emotional, and academic support.
An Academic Semester in British Columbia is 5 months.
Semester 1: September to January
Semester 2: February to June
International Students are fully integrated into Canadian classrooms and complete a full academic program at their grade level with courses to improve their English language abilities. Over 5 months, students gain a full experience of Canadian culture, Vancouver Island lifestyle, and are provided continual social, emotional, and academic support.
ISE welcomes students for long term educational programs. Students are able to study for several years in Nanaimo and Ladysmith, building strong school and community connections. With graduation credits, secondary school students are able to graduate with the internationally recognized B.C. graduation certificate (Dogwood Diploma).
The International Student Education program periodically accommodates short term programs ranging from 1 week to 4 months. For enquiries about short term programs please contact the ISE District Principal.
International Student Education is expanding ELL program offerings in the summer month of July. This summer program focuses on English language development in real world settings with fun and supportive activities and excursions.

Nanaimo has a population of approximately 100,000 people and has everything a student may need. Ladysmith has a population of approximately 10,000 people and overflows with small town charm. The Ladysmith community is tight knit and supportive.
In Nanaimo and Ladysmith, there is an abundance of rich cultural experiences, recreation, and shopping.
Being centrally located, students also have easy access to the dynamic cities of Vancouver and Victoria. Students are able to explore activities and destinations such as skiing at Mount Washington and Whistler Blackcomb and surfing at the popular surfing towns of Tofino and Ucluelet.
On Vancouver Island, we enjoy the mildest climate in Canada. Winters are mild and rainy and summers are cool and dry.
