AAU is the oldest private university in the Czech Republic, offering BA and MA programs with Czech and American accreditation in a uniquely international environment.
Situated in the beautifully restored Thurn-Taxis palace in Prague’s historic Malá Strana district, AAU offers 17 undergraduate and graduate programs entirely in English to students from more than 70 countries across the world.
With more than 80% of students coming from outside the country, AAU is the most international institution in the Czech Republic and was recently recognized by the European Association for International Education (EAIE) as an innovative leader in internationalization on the global stage.
With an average of just 15 students per class, AAU places an emphasis on small, interactive classes and focuses on critical and creative thinking, effective communication, and flexibility. Additionally, AAU cooperates with many local and international organizations to enrich students practical learning experiences outside of the classroom.
AAU is one of few universities outside of the United States to have received accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). The majority of AAU’s programs are also accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Czech Republic with the exception of the Law programs and Chapman MBA program, which are offered in cooperation with international partners.
As a not-for-profit university, AAU continually invests in developing the potential of our community and improving our educational models. We work together with our diverse student body to cultivate a sense of ethical consciousness and social responsibility towards each other and the world.

With AAU's campus situated in the magnificently restored, 17th century baroque Thurn-Taxis Palace right under the Prague Castle in the historic district of Malá Strana, AAU boasts one of the most attractive locations of any Central European university. The palace offers 16 modern fully-equipped classrooms, a computer lab and a visual arts studio along with a café, spacious courtyard, and modern student lounges that students can take advantage of for studying and socializing. Located next to the palace and directly accessible from the campus are the Vojan Gardens, a beautiful and spacious park.
