We offer year round courses for adults which you can start any week of the year. Most students study four hours every day. Classes start at 9.30 and finish at 2.00pm. There’s a half hour break. We offer a minimum of 5 levels all year, including Elementary and Advanced. In summer we run a C2 class. Where available, students can also choose to study 2 hours daily.
General English isn’t just grammar – it’s designed to improve all skills, especially speaking. These classes are designed to practice reading, listening, speaking, writing, vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation. Our focus is on real world English. If you want to learn English for school, for work or to help you understand native speakers on your holidays, General English is the class for you.
We offer year-round courses which prepare for the Cambridge PET, FCE and CAE exams, and also for the IELTS Academic exam. In this class you learn exam strategy as well as improving the language skills most frequently tested in these exams. These are ideal classes if you have an exam goal.
Our English Language Summer Camp runs in July and August. It is a fully immersive, all inclusive programme designed for students from 12 to 17 years old. Students have interesting and varied classes and activities from 9.30 to 16.00 every day and also have evening activities (19:30 to 22:00) three times a week. Full day tours take place on Saturdays.
With four English classes every day from 9.30 to 12.45 you are never bored. Classes focus on speaking and understanding English and learning to communicate naturally. Students complete projects and have a music lesson every week – all in English.
Students have a huge range of activities to choose from. Cooking, zumba dancing and art are our most popular activities, but we also offer swimming, basketball, football, Irish dancing, table tennis and netball. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students have a trip in the afternoon where they explore the museums and sights of Dublin.
Three times per week we offer great evening activities such as music, Irish dancing, disco, table quiz and bowling.
On either Saturday or Sunday there is a full day trip to popular attractions near Dublin. Walking in the mountains near Glendalough and visiting the pretty town of Howth are examples.
Active Language Learning offers several different types of student accommodation options. From total family emersion to independent living students can choose an accommodation selection that suits them. With our geographical advantage many students are in a position to either walk to school or avail of the short bus or metro facilities within the town.
This geographical dominance also has the added advantage of being only a twenty minute metro journey from Dublin city centre. Thus offering easy and relaxing commute times with the main attractions also within easy reach.
One of the best and most popular ways to learn English is to emerge yourself in an Irish homestay. Carefully chosen families who all live within reach of the centre are available to students all year. Private bedrooms are offered by experienced families who warmly welcome students into their homes. Executive Homestays are also offered catering for students who wish to avail of private bathroom.
Our accommodations manager visits every family who apply to Active Language Learning and monitors from student feedback on a constant basis. Full family details are sent to students prior to their arrival and contact is encouraged between both parties to establish common social goals. Full board includes breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal. Also included is hot water at all times, laundry facilities (dry cleaning not included) and all general common family lifestyle living.
