We have a rigorous academic program and expect our students to take four years of mathematics and science in addition to social studies and English. Programs must be rounded out with electives, art or AP classes. Courses of study are updated and revised to meet the Learning Standards of New York State and the National Common Core.
Our modern facility is comfortable, quiet and conducive to learning. Small classes enhance the effectiveness of an experienced and dedicated staff. On site physical education consists of yoga, aerobics and table tennis. Our soccer team plays and practices at nearby Flushing Meadow Park. The Flushing YMCA is used as our practice facility and home court for our basketball team. We also use the National Tennis Center.
The mission of the Windsor School is to develop well-rounded and thoughtful students prepared to cope with a changing post-modern and globalized world.
We nurture individual talents and interests to the fullest extent within our comprehensive and carefully planned curriculum.
We strive to provide our graduates with an academic foundation that will enable them to gain admission to the colleges or universities of their choice as well as to succeed in those institutions.
We believe that:
Regular attendance
Punctuality
Good behavior
Cooperation
Honesty
Kindness
Working hard
The Windsor School has been enrolling international students since the mid-1970s. We accept students at the grade level for which they would ordinarily qualify in their home country. Therefore, there is no loss of school work already completed upon transferring.
We have an English as a Second Language (ESL) program with class sizes of from 5 to 7 students. Students progress rapidly and move up the English ladder. Very few of our ESL students remain in an all ESL program for a year. We test English levels regularly and advance students into more mainstream classes as soon as possible.
Capable English Language learners in grades 10, 11 or 12 are placed in English for College. Here we focus on TOEFL preparation, literature, writing and speaking.
