The board consists of 49 elementary schools, 8 secondary schools, and a number of other education & administrative centres in the 12 aforementioned area municipalities that make up the Niagara Region. The Niagara Catholic District School Board serves over 24,000 students (elementary, secondary, adult education & summer) each year. Niagara Catholic is governed by a board of 8 elected trustees.
Niagara Catholic was incorporated on January 1, 1998, following the amalgamation of the Lincoln County Roman Catholic Separate School Board, and the Welland County Roman Catholic Separate School Board. Niagara Catholic covers a geographic area of 1,868 square kilometres, and serves more than 90,000 Catholic ratepayers. Today, we have more than 21,000 students in our Catholic elementary, secondary and alternative learning schools. Our students come from 112 countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe , and speak 58 languages, from Albanian to Vietnamese.
Catholic schools are much more than places where prayer and learning come together; they are places where our faith comes to life. We believe that our students and staff are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and we are all children of God.
Students in Catholic schools follow the Ontario curriculum, and everything we do – from teaching core subjects to activities, clubs and teams – is done from a distinctly Catholic perspective.
