Bellerbys College is a series of three (formerly four) private international co-educational boarding schools based in the UK, owned by Study Group International who also operate language schools under the name Embassy.

• A Levels

A Levels (Advanced Levels) are subject-based qualifications in UK schools. International students typically study three or four A Level subjects over two years.

A Levels are accepted by every university in the UK, and recognised worldwide. This means you have the opportunity to apply to universities and degrees that may not accept a foundation course. Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial College, UCL and most medical degrees, for example, all require A Levels.

You will be assessed after your first year of study to ensure that you are on track to achieve the grades you need, but these results generally do not count towards your final A Level grade. They are, however, a good way to monitor your progress and great practice for your final exams. Your final assessment is by a series of examinations which take place at the end of your second year.

• Undergraduate Year 1

The Bellerbys Undergraduate Year 1 in Business and Management is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree – allowing you progress to the second year of a business-related degree at one of 28 UK universities.

• GCSEs

GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education and is part of the UK’s National Curriculum. They are the first step on your academic journey, before progressing to either A Level or Foundation. With classes based on your interests, you’ll start exploring the subjects and gaining the skills that will help you study at a UK university.

Bellerbys College is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for Independent Further and Higher Education and is on the UK Register of Independent Schools. In 2006 the college in Cambridge won 5 Good Schools Guide Awards for A Level results and in the last two years the colleges have won a further 12 awards in 2008 and 2009 combined.
