The Canadian experience is the ideal choice for the student who wants to become more familiar with the French language while experiencing life in Canada. A school timetable is tailor-made according to the student's interests and skills. This schedule may include fewer academic-type courses in French than the schedule of a Francophone student in Ontario, in order to help the student improve his French while succeeding in school. This program also serves as preparation for the school experience component which requires a higher level of French proficiency.
A student can choose to complete a Canadian experience for 1 month up to 12 months. This experience is suitable for international students looking for a study experience in French in another country with the aim of returning to their home country to study.
Minimum French skills required for the Canadian experience
This program requires that the student has at least level A2 (elementary user) of the Common European Framework of Reference for LAnguage . Here is what the student should be able to do in French before entering the program:
The pupil can understand isolated sentences and expressions frequently used in French in connection with immediate and familiar domains (for example, personal information on his family, his hobbies, his purchases).
The student can communicate in French during simple and usual tasks , which only require an exchange of simple information on known and usual subjects.
The student can write simple, short notes and messages in French (eg a very simple thank you letter).
A student can choose to complete a school experience for 1 semester (5 months), a year (10 months) or more. This experience is suitable for international students looking for a French school experience in another country with the aim of obtaining their high school diploma in Canada to facilitate their registration at a Canadian university or college.
