Every student has a moment like this: you stare at the map on the wall for a long time, your eyes drift from one country to another, and a single question keeps circling in your head: "Could I go too?"
You can. But the road starts with a dream, and it's a plan that decides the outcome.
Step one: choose a country. A beautiful city or a friend who studies there isn't reason enough. First ask yourself: what do I want to study, what is the language of instruction, and what is my budget? China, Korea, Turkey, Germany, Malaysia: each has its own scholarships and requirements. In some places classes are taught in English, in others the first year goes entirely to learning the language.
Step two: language. Don't leave IELTS or the local language certificate for the last month. Plenty of people reach the deadline with a score that falls just short. Language matters for admission, but also for daily life: at the market, when renting a room, at the doctor's.
Step three: documents. Diploma translation, apostille, motivation letter, recommendations: it all takes time. Contact the university directly through its official website, and be careful with agents who promise a "guaranteed scholarship."
Step four: money. Even with a scholarship, the ticket, dormitory, insurance and first-month expenses come out of your own pocket. Go with a reserve of at least three months.
Finally, mental preparation. The first week is exciting, the second month is hard: homesickness, different food, different manners. That's normal. Those who went before you went through the same thing, and they grew right out of it.
Staring at the map changes nothing by itself, but the day the first document is ready, everything changes. Do one small thing today: write down three universities you'd like to attend. We'll work out the rest together, step by step.
